Mazda

Mazda are famous for their sports cars and especially cars with the Wankel rotary engine. They remain the only manufacturer to sell a rotary powered pickup truck, but the most famous use of this engine remains the high powered RX7 and RX8 models.

In the early 90s Mazda briefly made attempts to split their offerings across multiple brands in Japan, leading to the creation of Efinni, Eunos, Autozam and a customisation and performance subsidiary called M2. Sadly for Mazda this expansion occurred just in time for the Asian bubble economy to burst and it did not take long for all the new divisions to be wound up and bought back under the Mazda brand.

Since the ending of al long running partnership with Ford, Mazda have focused on their own SkyActiv technologies and made strategic partnerships with Toyota and Isuzu while retaining their reputation as a manufacturer of reliable driver focused cars.
