Escort Mk6 [1995 - 2000]

After the lukewarm reception of the 1990 Ford Escort Mk5, Ford gave the car a significant refresh in 1995 to create the Mk6. A new interior, revised drive train with new Zetec petrol engines and curvier looks made it a much more appealing proposition.

As before there was 3 and 5 door hatchback versions, a cabriolet and a van. In this generation the Orion saloon was absorbed into the Escort range. When the Focus arrived in late 1998 the Escort soldiered on as a value offering until 2000 and the van wasn't discontinued until 2002.
