Holden

As the Australian division of GM, Holden was the last manufacturer to stop domestic production of Australian cars, with the Commodore being built in Victoria until 2017.

Holden have been a strong part of Australian culture, the home built cars are known for their ruggedness and high performance, especially those tuned by the HSV sub-brand. The rivallry with Australian built Fords, both in the V8 Supercars championship and in showroom sales is legendary but despite strong Austrlian sales, Holden struggled to find export markets for significant numbers of vehicles to make ends meet for local production.

As well as the Commodore and Monaro, Holden imported other cars from General Motors worldwide operations, mostly from the European and Korean ranges and previously partnered with Nissan and Toyota under the infamous 'Button Plan'.

When Australian production ended the range consisted of only imports until the brand was cut entirely in 2020.
