As the third update of the venerable Metro, the Rover 100 was hopelessly out of date compared to the competition from the day it was released.
A new name, a couple of nice paint colours and some plastic wood trim could not disguise the outdated base car and then Euro NCAP crash tested it. It received the worst score of any car ever tested by them and received a 1 star rating.
Soon after this, Rover ended production of the 100 and did not offer another supermini until the ill fated CityRover four years later.
