Aston Martin is a very prestigious UK car manufacturer closely associated with the James Bond film franchise since the DB5 was chosen as the star car for Gold Finger in the mid 1960s.

The companies fortunes have been tumultuous over the years and in 1992 they were fully bought out by Ford. During this time the cars shared a number of components with contemporary Jaguar and Volvo cars (who were both also owned by Ford at the time) with many smaller components and connectors being common across the different marques.

In 2007 Ford sold Aston Martin to an independent consortium.
