A prestigious Italian mark, Lancia have won more World Rally Championships than any other manufacturer.
Founded in 1906 by Vincenzo Lancia, the company began car production in 1907. Lancia quickly established a reputation for advanced technology, introducing features such as independent suspension, hydraulic brakes, and V4 engines.
With Fiats acquisition in 1969 success on rally stages and the showroom floor followed with the legendary Delta, Stratos and 037 arriving under Fiats ownership. Unfortunately a scandal involving the Beta and poor rust resistance marred the brands reputation in the UK and by the early 90s demand had collapsed and the brand withdrew from the market.
Lancia retained popularity in Europe but as part of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the model range dwindled to one model, the Ypsilon, which is only sold in Italy. Lancias future is as part of Stellantis.
