Seat
Find all things SeatĀ here.
Seat was originally setup as a joint venture between Fiat and the Spanish government in the 1950s producing a range of Fiat models with modifications to suit local tastes.
In the 1980s Fiat ended cooperation and began producing their own models, the first being the Seat Ronda, based on the Fiat Ritmo, before the first generation Ibiza came out as the first model developed by Seat from the ground up.
Soon after Seat was bought by the Volkswagen group and have been making cars with many shared components since then with Seat positioned as a sportier alternative to Skoda.
Since 2021, Seat have had Cupra (originally the moniker for their fastest models) spun off as a sub-brand which has taken over Seats role in the Volkswagen group, leaving Seat without a clear brand direction. In September 2023 it was announced that Seat range would not be replaced as the models reached the end of their life span with Cupra taking over and the Seat brand being repositioned to focus on ‘mobility solutions’.
