Proton

Proton started importing cars to the UK in 1989 and initially its range was based on older Mitsubishi products. In 2000 they released the Impian, their first home grown car and continued to build their own designs.

The UK was Protons largest export market, but by 2016 sales had collapsed and Proton withdrew. Despite forays into other markets they do not enjoy much popularity outside of their home market where they are in constant competition with Perodua.
