Abarth’s history goes back to 1949 when Carlo Abarth founded the company.
Famed for its highly tuned versions of the Fiat 500, it was bought out by the Fiat Group in 1971 and became their official tuning brand, before slowly fading to just a trim level on the Fiat Punto and Stilo.

In 2007 Abarth was relaunched as an independent brand with the Grande Punto Abath and the new 500 shortly after. These highly tuned models share the same basic designs as the standard Fiat models but have taken them to the extremes of their capabilities. Electrical systems used for stereo and speaker upgrades are the same across both brands.
