Daewoo

Daewoo built cars that sold on value for money, initially built on the bones of older Mazda and GM designs, before they started completely developing their own vehicles.

After a boom period, including a successful launch onto the UK market, Daewoo took a number of risks during the Asian financial crisis and eventually ran into trouble before being bought by General Motors. Post take-over Daewoo was renamed GM Korea and outside of their local market, all cars were sold under other brands. In Europe this was Chevrolet, and Holden took on many models in Australia.
