Isuzu Motors specializes in the production of commercial vehicles and diesel engines. The company was founded in 1916 as Tokyo Gas Company, which later changed its name to Isuzu Motors in 1949.

In 1961, the company introduced its first passenger car, the Bellel, which was followed by several other of their own cars as well as rebadged versions of Subaru, General Motors and Honda products. However, Isuzu’s primary focus has always been on the production of commercial vehicles, including trucks, buses, and heavy-duty vehicles.

In the 1990s, Isuzu faced financial difficulties due to the Asian financial crisis, which led to a decline in sales and a reduction in production capacity. To address these challenges, eventually Isuzu left the North American market and ended their line of traditional production cars.
