Ford is often cited as the company that bought mass production to car manufacturing with the 1908 Ford Model T. Ford has traditionally held a very strong place in the US, Australian and European markets with specialised cars for each market. This more recently changed to a move towards ‘world cars’ where the same vehicle is offered globally with smaller regional changes which has lead to the cessation of Australian production and a drastic slimming of the European range.

They have previously owned a large stake in Mazda and had Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo as part of the group. Ford now sell cars under only the Ford and Lincoln brands. SYNC head units have so far been through 5 generations, with each generation becoming harder to make changes to.
